The Scripture
(19) And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas, that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate.
Chapter overview (whole chapter)
In chapter 18 the angel warns the woman of Sodom that God will destroy the city if she does not repent. He also tells the angel to bring the seven churches to judgment, showing that the nations will face the same fate. The chapter emphasizes that God’s judgment is certain and that repentance is the only way to avoid destruction.
