Proverbs 11 is a collection of contrasting maxims contrasting the upright with the wicked, opening with the declaration that a false balance is an abomination to the Lord but a just weight is His delight. It teaches that pride brings shame while humility brings wisdom, that riches profit nothing in the day of wrath but righteousness delivers from death, and that the city is exalted or overthrown by the blessing of the upright or the mouth of the wicked. The chapter closes by noting that one who troubles his own house inherits the wind, that the fruit of the righteous is a tree of life and the wise win souls, and that both the righteous and especially the wicked and sinner will be recompensed on the earth.
