(38) And those that were numbered of the sons of Gershon, throughout their families, and by the house of their fathers,

The Israelites are instructed to count their numbers and to set apart the tribe of Levi for their service. The chapter also records the division of the tribes of Ephraim and Manasseh and the appointment of leaders for each tribe.
