(38) The sons of Benjamin after their families: of Bela, the family of the Belaites: of Ashbel, the family of the Ashbelites: of Ahiram, the family of the Ahiramites:
Chapter overview (whole chapter)
In this chapter Moses commands the Israelites to be numbered so that each tribe may receive its proper portion of land, and the tribe of Levi is set apart for service. The tribe of Judah is counted among the people, and the Levites are assigned to the priestly duties. The purpose of the census is to ensure each tribe receives its inheritance as God has promised.
