The Scripture
(10) And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up together with Korah, when that company died, what time the fire devoured two hundred and fifty men: and they became a sign.
Chapter overview (whole chapter)
In this chapter Moses commands the Israelites to be numbered so that each tribe may receive its proper portion of land, and the tribe of Levi is set apart for service. The tribe of Judah is counted among the people, and the Levites are assigned to the priestly duties. The purpose of the census is to ensure each tribe receives its inheritance as God has promised.
