(29) Also from the house of Gilgal, and out of the fields of Geba and Azmaveth: for the singers had builded them villages round about Jerusalem.

Nehemiah 12 records the dedication of the temple and the giving of the people, after Nehemiah returns to Jerusalem and is given authority to oversee the work. The chapter describes the king’s decree that the people should give a portion of their food, oil, and wine, and the joy of the people as they celebrate the completion of the temple. It emphasizes God’s faithfulness and the importance of communal worship and sacrifice.
