Nehemiah 11:1
The Scripture
(1) And the rulers of the people dwelt at Jerusalem: the rest of the people also cast lots, to bring one of ten to dwell in Jerusalem the holy city, and nine parts to dwell in other cities.
Chapter overview (whole chapter)
Nehemiah records the census of the people of Judah after the exile, noting how many remained and how many had gone to other lands. The chapter lists the groups that stayed, such as the priests, Levites, and those who had not left, and warns of the consequences of idolatry. It also shows the importance of faithful obedience and repentance for God's covenant.
