Leviticus 25:4
The Scripture
(4) But in the seventh year shall be a sabbath of rest unto the land, a sabbath for the LORD: thou shalt neither sow thy field, nor prune thy vineyard.
Chapter overview (whole chapter)
In Leviticus 25 the Israelites are commanded to observe a Sabbath year each seven years when the land is to rest and no work may be done. The people are also reminded that the land will be given back to the tribes every seventh year, and every seventy years a Jubilee year occurs when debts are forgiven and slaves freed. These laws reflect God’s promise of rest and renewal for both the land and the people.
