The Scripture
(48) And the men of Israel turned again upon the children of Benjamin, and smote them with the edge of the sword, as well the men of every city, as the beast, and all that came to hand: also they set on fire all the cities that they came to.
Chapter overview (whole chapter)
In chapter 20 the Israelites relapse into idolatry after a time of peace and Gideon’s victory over the Midianites, which he accomplishes through divine guidance. The chapter shows that even great victories cannot replace true repentance and faithful obedience to God.
