(3) When they were by the house of Micah, they knew the voice of the young man the Levite: and they turned in thither, and said unto him, Who brought thee hither? and what makest thou in this place? and what hast thou here?

Gideon’s sons, who had defied his command, join the Midianites and attack Israel, causing great fear among the people. The Israelites, led by Gideon, respond with a sacrifice and a battle, and God delivers them, but the victory is followed by a period of fear and a reminder of the cost of disobedience.
