The Scripture
(27) And they took the things which Micah had made, and the priest which he had, and came unto Laish, unto a people that were at quiet and secure: and they smote them with the edge of the sword, and burnt the city with fire.

Gideon’s sons, who had defied his command, join the Midianites and attack Israel, causing great fear among the people. The Israelites, led by Gideon, respond with a sacrifice and a battle, and God delivers them, but the victory is followed by a period of fear and a reminder of the cost of disobedience.
