The Scripture
(14) And he had forty sons and thirty nephews, that rode on threescore and ten ass colts: and he judged Israel eight years.
Chapter overview (whole chapter)
In this chapter the Israelites grumble against their judges and ask for a king, which leads to the death of the prophet Samuel. The people then pursue and kill the judge Gideon, who is taken to Shechem, showing the danger of rebellion and the loss of divine protection.
