The Scripture
(3) And they returned to Joshua, and said unto him, Let not all the people go up; but let about two or three thousand men go up and smite Ai; and make not all the people to labour thither; for they are but few.

The Israelites are gathered at the Jordan River as they prepare to enter the promised land. The spies have reported that the land is good and the people are ready to receive the covenant. Joshua instructs them to be ready and to trust God in their journey.
