Chapter overview (whole chapter)
John 8 opens with the Pharisees bringing a woman caught in adultery to Jesus, who tells her accusers that whoever is without sin may cast the first stone, and then forgives her. He declares himself the light of the world and warns the Pharisees they will die in their sins unless they believe in him. The chapter closes with Jesus proclaiming 'Before Abraham was, I am,' prompting the Jews to try to stone him before he slips away.
