Chapter overview (whole chapter)
John 3 tells the story of Jesus meeting a Samaritan woman at a well, where he reveals that true life comes from believing in him rather than from the law or human works. He explains that those who do not believe are like those who are born of water and the Spirit, and that the Spirit gives life. The chapter emphasizes that belief, not religious ritual, is the path to eternal life.
