Job 36:2
The Scripture
Chapter overview (whole chapter)
Job 36 opens Elihu's continued defense of God, in which he claims to speak on God's behalf and to fetch knowledge from afar, asserting that God is mighty and despises no one, giving justice to the afflicted and the righteous their rights. He explains that God uses affliction to reveal transgression and to turn people back from iniquity, while binding kings in fetters when they refuse correction. Elihu closes by exalting God's greatness as a teacher beyond knowledge, describing how He commands the clouds, spreads His lightning, and judges the peoples, with the thunder of His voice declaring His majesty.
