Chapter overview (whole chapter)

Jeremiah 33 records the word of the Lord that came to Jeremiah a second time while he was shut up in the court of the prison, promising that if he calls, God will answer and show him great and mighty things he does not know. It foretells the restoration of Judah and Israel, the rebuilding of houses and the healing of the city, the raising up of the Branch of righteousness from David's line, and the city being called 'The Lord our righteousness.' The chapter closes by refuting those who say the Lord has cast off the two families He chose, swearing by the ordinances of day and night that He will not cast away the seed of Jacob and David, but will have mercy on them and return their captivity.
