Jeremiah 2:6
The Scripture
Chapter overview (whole chapter)
Jeremiah 2 records the Lord's indictment of faithless Israel, recalling the devotion of her youth when she followed Him in the wilderness, and asking what fault the people found in Him that they went far from Him after vanity. It exposes their apostasy-exchanging the fountain of living waters for broken cisterns, a noble vine turned into a degenerate plant, and a nation that has forgotten God as many days as the heavens are old. The chapter closes with the Lord's grief that Israel turns here and there to Egypt and Assyria in shame, and a declaration that He has rejected their confidences so that they will not prosper.
