Jeremiah 16:4
The Scripture
(4) They shall die of grievous deaths; they shall not be lamented; neither shall they be buried; but they shall be as dung upon the face of the earth: and they shall be consumed by the sword, and by famine; and their carcases shall be meat for the fowls of heaven, and for the beasts of the earth.
Chapter overview (whole chapter)
Jeremiah 16 opens with the Lord forbidding the prophet to marry or have children because of the grievous deaths coming upon the land through sword and famine. Mourning and feasting are forbidden as well, since the people's fathers forsook the Lord for other gods. The chapter closes with the prophet's confession of the Lord as his strength and a vision of Gentiles confessing their fathers' lies and coming to know His name.
