The Scripture
(1) The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;

In this chapter the prophet announces that God will bring peace and joy to the people of Israel, restoring their former glory and making them a united and blessed community. He also promises that their joy will be like a bridegroom’s, reflecting the deep, lasting love of the Lord.
