The Scripture
(33) And she conceived again, and bare a son; and said, Because the LORD hath heard that I was hated, he hath therefore given me this son also: and she called his name Simeon.

Jacob travels to Bethlehem and meets Rachel, the daughter of Bethlehem and the wife of his uncle Laban. He tells his father Isaac that he will give his brother Esau to Rachel, and they marry, beginning a pattern of deception that will continue throughout the chapter.
