Ezekiel 20:21
The Scripture
(21) Notwithstanding the children rebelled against me: they walked not in my statutes, neither kept my judgments to do them, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; they polluted my sabbaths: then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the wilderness.
Chapter overview (whole chapter)
Ezekiel 20 opens with elders coming to inquire of the Lord, who refuses and instead recounts Israel's long history of rebellion in Egypt and the wilderness, their idolatry, and profaning His Sabbaths. He withheld His fury for His name's sake among the nations, though He purposed judgment. The chapter closes with the promise to gather and purge Israel and a parable of an unquenchable fire consuming the southern forest.
