Ezekiel 19:6
The Scripture
Chapter overview (whole chapter)
Ezekiel 19 is a lamentation for the princes of Israel, likening their mother to a lioness among lions who raised one young lion that learned to devour men, was caught in a pit, and brought with chains to the land of Egypt. After she waited in vain and despaired, she raised another whelp who became a young lion, devoured men, laid waste their cities, and was caught in a pit and brought to the king of Babylon so his roar was heard no more. The chapter closes by turning to the mother as a vine planted by waters, fruitful and strong, but plucked up in fury, dried by the east wind, and consumed by fire so that she has no strong rod to be a scepter-a lamentation that shall be for a lamentation.
