The Scripture
(31) And the LORD did according to the word of Moses; and he removed the swarms of flies from Pharaoh, from his servants, and from his people; there remained not one.
Chapter overview (whole chapter)
In this chapter God tells Moses to take the firstborn of every Israelite, but the Egyptians release theirs, so God sends a plague that kills the firstborn of both peoples. The event shows God's power over Egypt and the seriousness of Israel's covenant. It also highlights the tension between obedience and divine judgment.
