(23) And I will put a division between my people and thy people: to morrow shall this sign be.
Chapter overview (whole chapter)
In this chapter God tells Moses to take the firstborn of every Israelite, but the Egyptians release theirs, so God sends a plague that kills the firstborn of both peoples. The event shows God's power over Egypt and the seriousness of Israel's covenant. It also highlights the tension between obedience and divine judgment.
