The Scripture
(9) And Moses spake so unto the children of Israel: but they hearkened not unto Moses for anguish of spirit, and for cruel bondage.
Chapter overview (whole chapter)
Moses and Aaron go to Pharaoh with a request for the Israelites to be released from slavery, but Pharaoh refuses and sends the elders to hear his decree. The chapter records the Israelites' continued hardship and the increasing anger of God, setting the stage for a stronger demand.
