(16) For there is no remembrance of the wise more than of the fool for ever; seeing that which now is in the days to come shall all be forgotten. And how dieth the wise man? as the fool.
Chapter overview (whole chapter)
Ecclesiastes 2 records the Preacher testing pleasure, wealth, and great achievements, only to find it all vanity and vexation of spirit. He weighs wisdom against folly, noting both the wise and the fool share the same fate and are eventually forgotten. The chapter concludes that enjoying one's labor is a gift from God, who gives wisdom and joy to the good but burdens the sinner with fruitless toil.
