Deuteronomy 29:9
The Scripture
Chapter overview (whole chapter)
Deuteronomy 29 opens the renewal of the covenant in the land of Moab, as Moses reminds Israel of all the Lord did in Egypt and during the wilderness wandering, even though He had not yet given them a heart to perceive. He warns that no one should harbor a root of idolatry that would bring the covenant curses on the whole community and turn the land into a burning waste like Sodom. The chapter closes with the reminder that the secret things belong to the Lord but the revealed things belong to Israel and their children forever, that they may do all the words of the law.
