Amos 3:5
The Scripture
(5) Can a bird fall in a snare upon the earth, where no gin is for him? shall one take up a snare from the earth, and have taken nothing at all?
Chapter overview (whole chapter)
Amos 3 opens with the Lord declaring that because Israel alone He has known among all the families of the earth, He will punish them for their sins. Through rhetorical questions the prophet shows that disaster does not befall a city unless the Lord has done it, and that He reveals His plans to His servants the prophets. The chapter closes with the Lord commanding judgment proclaimed against Israel, the altar at Bethel, and the houses of the wealthy.
