Acts 15:31
The Scripture
(31) Which when they had read, they rejoiced for the consolation.
Chapter overview (whole chapter)
The church in Jerusalem debates whether Gentile believers must follow Jewish law, especially circumcision and dietary rules. The council decides that faith alone is sufficient for salvation and that Gentiles need not be circumcised or keep the dietary laws. This decision affirms the unity of the early church and the spread of the gospel to Gentiles.
