(3) To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:

After Jesus’ ascension the disciples gathered at the empty tomb and were filled with the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost, enabling them to speak in many languages. This empowerment sent them to Jerusalem where Peter and John were chosen to lead the community in the early church.
