II Timothy 1:7
The Scripture
(7) For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
Chapter overview (whole chapter)
Paul reminded Timothy of the genuine faith passed down from his grandmother Lois and mother Eunice, urging him to stir up the gift of God within him, for God had not given a spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind. Paul, though imprisoned, expressed no shame in his suffering for the gospel and urged Timothy to hold fast the pattern of sound words he had been taught.
