(15) And Absalom, and all the people the men of Israel, came to Jerusalem, and Ahithophel with him.

Ziba deceived David into believing Mephibosheth had betrayed him, while Shimei cursed and threw stones at David as he fled Jerusalem, though David forbade his men from killing him. On Ahithophel's counsel, Absalom publicly took his father's concubines to affirm his rebellion before all Israel.
