The Scripture
(13) And Hazael said, But what, is thy servant a dog, that he should do this great thing? And Elisha answered, The LORD hath shewed me that thou shalt be king over Syria.
Chapter overview (whole chapter)
The Shunammite woman's land was restored to her by the king after Gehazi recounted Elisha's miracle, while Elisha wept upon foreseeing the great evil that Hazael would inflict on Israel after becoming king of Syria by smothering Ben-hadad. The chapter also records the wicked reigns of Jehoram and Ahaziah over Judah, both of whom walked in the ways of the house of Ahab.
