The Scripture
(33) Five and twenty years old was he when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Jerusha, the daughter of Zadok.

Azariah (Uzziah) reigned in Judah but was struck with leprosy for entering the temple, while Israel saw a rapid and violent succession of kings—Zachariah, Shallum, Menahem, Pekahiah, and Pekah—many of whom were murdered by their successors. During this period Tiglath-pileser of Assyria began carrying Israelites into captivity.
