The Scripture
(17) And his return was to Ramah; for there was his house; and there he judged Israel; and there he built an altar unto the LORD.

Samuel called Israel to put away their foreign gods and serve the LORD only, and as the Philistines attacked at Mizpeh, the LORD thundered against them and Israel won a great victory. Samuel set up a stone called Ebenezer, saying, "Hitherto hath the LORD helped us," and he judged Israel all his days.
