The Scripture
(27) And Baasha the son of Ahijah, of the house of Issachar, conspired against him; and Baasha smote him at Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistines; for Nadab and all Israel laid siege to Gibbethon.
Chapter overview (whole chapter)
Abijam reigned briefly and wickedly over Judah, but his son Asa did right in the eyes of the LORD, removing idols and sodomites from the land and even deposing his grandmother Maachah for her idol worship. Asa allied with Syria's Ben-hadad against Baasha of Israel, while the chapter also records the violent, idolatrous reign of Nadab and Baasha in the north.
