The Scripture
Chapter overview (whole chapter)
First Chronicles 29 opens with David calling on the leaders and people of Israel to give freewill offerings for the temple, and the people respond with overwhelming generosity, donating gold, silver, bronze, iron, and precious stones. David leads the assembly in a majestic prayer of thanksgiving, acknowledging that all riches come from God and that the offerings are simply returning what belongs to Him. The chapter concludes with Solomon being anointed king a second time amid great rejoicing, and with the death of David after a forty-year reign full of honor and prosperity.
