I Chronicles 27:1
The Scripture
Chapter overview (whole chapter)
First Chronicles 27 organizes Israel's military into twelve monthly divisions of twenty-four thousand men, each under a captain, serving the king month by month throughout the year. It then lists the leaders of the twelve tribes, the officers over the king's treasuries, storehouses, and field labor, and those who governed his possessions and herds. The chapter closes by naming David's chief counselors-Jonathan the uncle and Jehiel with the king's sons, Ahithophel and Hushai the companion, Jehoiada and Abiathar, and Joab the general of the army.
